Levente`s sporting No. 1 goalkeeper Aitor Fernandez risks not being able to participate in Athletic Bilbao`s visit on Sunday because of the Spanish parliamentary elections. The guard is part of an election commission in his hometown of Mondragon and is legally required to be present unless compelling circumstances exist. Levante has already tried to get permission to be part of the team, but has received a negative response from the authorities. The town of Mondragon in question is about an hour`s drive from Bilbao and Aitor is considering leaving the polling station at one point and going to the stadium. The meeting starts at 3:00 pm local time.
By law, all Spaniards in the electoral register may be called to work in polling stations during elections. They get 65 euros each.
The problem of Levante`s coach is that backup guard Oier Olazábal is injured, which reduces his choice to one of the youngsters.
